Why we made Find & Say
Find & Say grew out of the situations we kept running into as French learners. Someone thanks you, shares good news or invites you for a coffee, and the right reply arrives a few seconds too late. A first trip to France, where you want to order at the café and chat at the market, not just get from A to B. Notes and conversations with a child’s school, where you want to understand and be understood.
We wanted a calm, low-pressure way to practise for those moments, something we would actually look forward to picking up. That became the Find & Say books: find the French in a large-print grid, see what it means, then say it out loud in a real situation.
How the books work
Every book has 28 themed puzzles. Each one lists 8 French words or expressions with their English meanings and an easy pronunciation cue. You find each one in a 12×12 grid, which makes you look at it closely instead of skimming past, then read a short Say it passage aloud that puts the words to work. Answers are in the back.
The reading cards
Reading French out loud is a skill of its own, so we made reading cards to practise it: sounds, silent letters, small connecting words, liaisons and word endings, from first sounds in Level 1 to longer, smoother sentences in Level 2. They are for kids and adults, and they are sold as a two-level set.
The music
Each book has its own companion album of bilingual songs built around the book’s vocabulary, so you can keep hearing the French away from the page. Albums are ready for our first books, and more arrive with each release.
How we make them
Every book starts with a human idea and a real situation. We use generative AI tools to help brainstorm, organize, generate and refine the puzzles, the reading cards and the music, under human creative direction. We choose the topics, select and edit the French, and review every page before it is printed.
