Does it cover être and avoir?

Yes. Two puzzles are built around the verbs être (to be) and avoir (to have), with sample sentences you can say aloud.

Is this book large print?

Are the answers included?

Do I need to know French already?

No prior study is assumed. Every French word appears with its English meaning and an approximate pronunciation cue, and puzzles get gradually harder from one star to five.
